How can I order custom?

It's very easy to order custom with me.

1. Measure your child- refer to my sizing structure. If you need custom sizing for your child, please ask. I'm happy to do that for you- otherwise I go by my standard measurements.

2 Go to http://www.ricicli.etsy.com and click on Request Custom Item. Follow the instructions for ordering and in your request, include the following information.

  • size (newborn - 6T or custom sizing)
  • basic description of what you have in mind.
  • the best way to contact you for phone/ email or in-person consultation.
Please let me know if you have any questions :)

Thanks!

Christina

Giuoco Bird Enlists a Friend For Help

Meet Ricicli!

We've enlisted his help to work on a separate label of 100% recycled goods.

Recycled goods are an amazing alternative for purchasing brand new high priced designer items. The materials used for our collection are found items that are gently used and were already made from the most premium textiles... Cashmere, Angora, Silk & 100% Cotton. Then they are appropriately cared for before beginning the new projects.

Because the pieces are made from existing pieces, the items cost you less! No expensive material costs are incurred, so we can pass on the savings to you. Where else can you find cashmere for $35? Look for us at your local farmers market, where you can choose from our current designs or order your own custom!

Each piece is one of a kind! You won't find it anywhere else... and at the same time, you are supporting a movement that everything is valuable and nothing should be wasted on this planet.
As always, thank you for your support.. to us and all your local resources.

~ Giuoco & Ricicli

Spring/ Summer Preview

This spring & summer collection is inspired by the shapes and patterns of natural objects.

I wanted to play with organic lines so the design is fun and different than what you would normally see in the body styles of children garments.

You'll see tops adorned with flower petal or cloud shaped collars and hem lines as rough as mountain planes or fields of grass.

The sweaters shown are made from repurposed cashmere and Italian silk i picked up in Rome.. Sweater and Hat combo $72
Seperate: Sweater $58, Hat $24

The Life Cycle of a Garment - Information and Links

I thought I would provide links to great information I've come across regarding what happens to garments after you no longer need or want them.

Recycling clothing used to be a regular occurrence; though as more resources and options to cut costs on materials and manufacturing became available - the more possible it was for the public to purchase items brand new. Thus leaving fewer garments manufactured with sustainable fabrics and therefore impossible to recycle.

"There are many concerns about the life cycle of synthetics which come primarily from petrochemicals. Unlike natural fibers, their source is not renewable (in less than millions of years) and they are not biodegradable." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clothing)

These garments that are donated or sold to consignment inevitably make it up the chain to disposal.

Take a look at this fantastic article from the UK about what happens after a garments been donated, sold or disposed of. http://www.oakdenehollins.co.uk/pdf/Clothing-after-wear.pdf

Here's a case study that illustrates the application of CP principles in the life cycle of cotton garment production by Novotex, a textile company founded in 1983. http://www.p2pays.org/ref/10/09354.htm

About Us

Welcome to Giuoco & Ricicli, a unique collection of urban apparel for infants and toddlers. My name is Christina and I'm the designer of all Giuoco and Ricicli garments. I began designing in 2001 under a lable called Committee 300 with my partner then, Joseph Sueferling. I found mens and womens clothing to be exciting to create, though I always believed that designing childrens wear would fulfill me much more. The skies the limit with kids and that's how i approach my designs for them.

I'm excited to say I found the perfect gal to sew w/ me. She has an incredible eye for style and happens to be one of the fastest and talented seamstresses I've come across in my days. I'd prefer not to have my items manufactured outside of Seattle, so I opted to hire an amazing local seamstress to help me keep up with the demand. Savannah Baltazar & I will be working hard over the next few months to bulk up our inventory and provide the best designs and highest quality children's clothes for all your little ones. We'll be at the Fremont Market every Sunday & select pieces will be available at Bouncing Wall Boutique and Gallery- but the plan is to have the items available on line as well as several other boutiques near you.

Stay tuned! We're going places! :)

Giuoco (gee-oh-cho) is the label for my designer collections.. Items include, denim jeans, trousers, dresses, skirts, blouses, sweaters, hoodies, & jackets you'll just coo over. You can view examples now on the main page, but look for my first full collection when model shots go up on the site at the end of May. You can order any existing piece or order custom.

Ricicli (Ree-chee-clee) is the label in which the items are made from 100% recycled materials. The designs are so much fun, they're low in cost and made from the most amazing fabrics. Materials used are found adult apparel pieces that have been gently used and.perhaps just out of style or have a flaw. I take those pieces and pull up to 3 modern and comfy garments from it that can comfortably be worn today. You can order any existing piece or order custom.
